Maya M. Carroll ((geb. Lipsker) is a Berlin based choreographer, dancer and teacher. Her independent work began in 2004 in Israel, and continues in Europe since 2005. Maya's work presents narratives evolved from/by movement, detailed images and musicality. She has a great interest in the interplay between reality and fantasy and in reflecting on radical human conditions related to solitude, environmental impact and relationships. In the past four years Maya's interest in instant composition/improvisation has developed theoretically and practically, becoming a significant part of her creation process and integrated in her choreography and performance. Other inspirations to her movement work are space, sound and resonance, imagination and poetry.
