Katerina "Kat" (Aikaterini) Papageorgiou Válastur (born in 1975, Athens) graduated from the Hellenic State School of Dance. In 2000, she was awarded with a full scholarship by the Fulbright Foundation for her studies at Trisha Brown's in New York. She has attended Jan Fabre's master class in Dubrovnik Summer Festival. As a dancer she has collaborated with Dimitris Papaioannou in productions of Edafos Dance Theatre and at the 2004 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, as well as with Konstantinos Rigos, artistic director of Oktana Dance Theatre. In 2001, she founded adLib dances company in Athens. She created the following works: The House (2001), Breathing exits (2002, presented at the 1st Balkan platform in Bucharest), Blushing up slowly (2003, presented as a guest choreographer at the National Northern Dance Theatre), Surroundead (2004, 17th International Dance Festival in Cyprus), Wonderful rooms and the Messenger (2006, Balkan Art Platform), What scratches the glass from the inside (2007, won the Jarmila Jeřábková Award at the New Europe International Dance Festival in Prague). She has also created video dance in collaboration with the director Giorgos Lanthimos: The Date and 9:00 am. The Date was screened at the 1st International Video Dance Festival in Athens-Thessaloniki and at the ICA in London. It was also the Official Greek representation at the Sarajevo Biennale of Young Artists of Europe and Mediterranean. In 2007 she moved to Berlin for her Master studies in solo/dance/authorship at the Udk. Her new piece, Lange, will be presented in Berlin, Athens, Prague, France.
