CHRIS SCHERER stammt aus Australien und lebt und arbeitet als genreübergreifender Performer in Berlin. Er hat einen bachelor in Dance Performance und ein Advanced Diploma in Schauspiel der ACArts in Adelaide. Chris hat Arbeiten in verschiedenen Medien vorgestellt, und seine Filmarbeiten wurden bei Festivals in Australien, Europa, Asien und Amerika gezeigt. Derzeit ist Chris Teil der Berliner Tanzcompany Total Brutal, unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Nir De Volff, in den Produktionen Picnics Weddings and Funerals 2010 und Komot in 2011. Chris Scherer is an Australian born cross disciplinary performer and a graduate from ACArts. During his 6 years of intensive training, Chris obtained a Bachelor of Dance Performance and a Advanced Diploma in Acting. He has devised and performed work in various mediums with his film work having been presented in numerous festivals throughout Australia, Europe, Asia and America. Chris makes accessible, topical, image based work using collision and fusion processes of performance and presentation. He is a rule-breaker who rejects the boundaries of traditional art forms, ensuring his audiences have memorable, personal and unique experiences. Career highlights include an Australian Dance Award for Best Dance on Film (2009) with ‘If the Shoe Fits’, the theater work ‘Private Lives’ (2008) directed by Jo Stone, and his recent Dance Theater solo ‘Pickled’ (2010). ‘Pickled’ was awarded the 2010 Adelaide Fringe Judges Commendation for Best Dance and nominated for the inSPACE Development Award. Since the completion of this solo and leaving Australia, Chris has been working throughout Europe as an rehearsal assistant to Miguel Pereria (Portugal) in ‘Antonio e Migiuel’, a performer in ‘World of Interiors’ by Ana Borralho & Joao Galante (Portugal) and an actor in ‘Your Mine Error’ by Juliar Jost (Germany). Chris has recently worked with Berlin based dance company ‘Total Brutal,’ directed by Nir De Volff. After his first creation with ‘Total Brutal’, ‘Picnics Weddings & Funerals’ in 2010 Chris has been invited to continue to work with the company throughout 2011 in the new production KOMOT.
