Filiz Sızanlı graduated from the Department of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University in 1997. She started taking dance courses while she studied in Istanbul. She participated in various projects of the Theatre Research Laboratory at the Istanbul Municipal Theatre from 1998 to 2000. In 2001 Sızanlı won a scholarship of French Culture Attaché for a training program “Centre National Choreographique de Montpellier. She had been admitted in the formation ex.e.r.c.e. in Centre chorégraphique national de Montpellier in 2000, where she was spotted by Mathilde Monnier and Emmanuelle Huynh. Since 2002, Sızanlı has become a dancer of Compagnie Mathilde Monnier in France. Together with Mustafa Kaplan, Sızanlı choreographed ′′Üç Ayak in 2001. Since then she has choreographed numerous dance works with Kaplan. They have created performances that lie between dance and movement. As a co–producer, Sızanlı choreographed “Sek Sek with Paris CND in 2003. In 2005, she created her own solo Solum. In 2006, she choreographed "Graf" with Mustafa Kaplan, co-produced by Montpellier Dance Festival and Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine Saint Denis.
