Juliana Piquero (born in Buenos Aires, lives in Berlin). She is a choreographer and dancer. She is part of the garage collective in Berlin-Lichtenberg and presents her scenic works in the Ballhaus Naunynstraße and Sophiensälen theatres in Berlin and Teatro Pradillo in Madrid; she develops site-specific performances in unconventional environments.
In her choreographic works she articulates socio-political issues, e.g. Latin American queer feminism; issues related to her queer identity, questions about functional diversity and body language. She searches for the efficacy of the undefined and tries to blur the boundaries between dichotomous concepts such as the natural and the artificial and to understand the complexity of the body as technology.
Her piece "surviving_fragment I: everything is possible in this space in between" received the award for Best Innovation in Performance, Stockholm. In 2019, her last stage play "Fan de Ellas" premiered at Sophiensaele. In 2020-21 she received the "Tanzpraxis Stipendium - Mid career" from the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the funding "TakeCare" from the Fonds Darstellende Künste.
