He founded post theater in New York in 1999. His pieces toured internationally, including International Festival for the Arts CyL, Salamanca, Digital Arts Festival Tokyo, Tanz im August Berlin. He was a fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart in 2001. With Hiroko Tanahashi he conceived “Heavenly Bento (Bonn Biennale 2004, Singapore Arts Festival 2005, Japan Society, New York 2009). Max curates and teaches in various contexts (Zagreb, Tokyo, Taipei, Berlin and Singapore). He was invited to residencies with Eks-Scena Zagreb, Kunstraum Syltquelle Sylt, Taipei Artist Village, Pact Zollverein Essen, Tokyo Wonder Site. His concept “Fight Club: A Chorus has been performed at the National Museum of Singapore and the State Opera Berlin. He directed the YouTube-based dance piece “Napoleon D. at Dock 11, Berlin.
