BLUR - 6 miniatures about blurriness
BLUR is a theatrical audio-visual music sculpture in 6 parts of 25 minutes each. All of them are premieres of new compositions by Sergej Maingardt combined with visual art by Jens Standke. With actors and musicians BLUR is examining the phenomena of blurriness in different fields: Uncertainty Principle of Werner Heisenberg in physics, Participative Ignorance in psychology, Blurriness and Fake in photography, Fuzzy Logic, Smart Production in economics and the Sovereign Blurriness in politics. BLUR starts in the beginning of the 20th century and ends up in the days of the German parliamentary elections in 2017.
Borders seems to become more and more instable and blurry. Reality is getting more and more indistinct. You can notice this phenomenon not only in political and geographical but also in private fields. This makes profoundly insecure. People are missing indications for right behaviours. Misinterpretations will be probable. Beneath the different arts (music, video and theatre) the audience is an important element of the performance. Laying on beanbags under an 8.5 to 8.5 meter screen the spectators get (related to the item of the piece) an impression of a slightly irritated sense of orientation. Above and below, right and left had to be defined from one to the next image on screen while the music creates a physical surround sound around the audience. BLUR is worked mostly in German but we can transfer it to an English version.
