In this video, you will see the performer Josef Stiller at the Zirkus ONstage - Pro Festival, a showcase presenting projects from the yearly creation program, offered to contemporary circus artists in and from Germany since 2019.  "Responsive Round" was accompanied during the creation process in the 1st Zirkus ON edition 2019-2020 and dissolve the the boundaries between audience and performer with balancing and falling bamboo sticks at festival venue Pfefferwerk - Haus 13.

In an intimate circle, a performer moves with balancing and falling bamboo sticks. Who catches the sticks, however, remains an open question. The performer plays with the natural reactions and reflexes of
each spectator. He manipulates not only the bamboo sticks, but also the audience‘s focus and attention. Responsive Round dissolves the boundaries between audience and performers and creates a piece that does
not work without spectators and in which each spectator - in one way or another - becomes a performer themselves.
“It‘s about keeping things moving and not getting stuck in a certain style or comfort zone. We consider ourselves a framework for artistic exploration, collaborations, and creations of many kinds.” (Klub Girko)

In einem intimen Kreis bewegt sich ein Performer mit balancierenden und fallenden Bambusstäben. Wer jedoch die Stäbe fängt, bleibt eine offene Frage. Der Darsteller spielt mit den natürlichen Reaktionen und Reflexen der einzelnen Zuschauenden. Er manipuliert nicht nur die Bambusstöcke, sondern auch den Fokus und die Aufmerksamkeit der Anwesenden. Responsive Round löst die Grenzen zwischen Publikum und Darstellenden auf. Es entsteht ein Stück, das ohne Zuschauende nicht funktioniert und in dem alle auf die eine
oder andere Weise Mitspielende werden. „Es gilt, Dinge in Bewegung zu halten und nicht in einem bestimmten
Stil oder einer Komfortzone hängen zu bleiben. Daher verstehen wir uns als Rahmen für künstlerische Erkundungen, Kollaborationen und Kreationen vielerlei Art.“ (Klub Girko)
