Sound / Space / Body ' A Process

Eine interdisziplinäre Untersuchung von Raum, Klang, Bewegung

Das interdisziplinäre Forschungsprojekt »Sound/Space/Body ' A Process« bewegt sich an der Schnittstelle von Kunst und Wissenschaft. Es verbindet Tanz, Neurowissenschaft, Philosophie und Bildende Kunst, um auf dem Feld der Wahrnehmungsforschung neue Erkenntnisse in den Bereichen Ästhetik und der Wissenschaft vom Menschen zu gewinnen. Den Ausgangspunkt des Projekts stellt eine Ton-Raum-Installation von Bernhard Leitner dar. Über das Medium Tanz wird die Wahrnehmung von Klang untersucht, um schließlich über das Sehen von Bewegung ein »anderes« ' körperliches ' Hören zu vermitteln. Aus den jeweiligen Hörkonstellationen bildet sich ein Kommunikationsnetz zwischen den Tänzern. Das Publikum beobachtet diese kommunikativen Vorgänge und erhält so Zugang zum »anderen« Hören, was letztendlich zu einer utopischen Idee führt: alle Hörenden werden zu Tänzern.

Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit den neurologischen Wissenschaften ist das künstlerische Projekt zudem die Grundlage einer systematischen Methodologie, die dem »Paradox der menschlichen Subjektivität«, zugleich Subjekt und Objekt dieser Welt zu sein, nachgeht. Die Erfahrungen der Tänzer dienen als empirisches Material, um neue phänomenologische Fragestellungen und Hypothesen zu entwickeln. Die künstlerisch-wissenschaftlichen Forschungsergebnisse werden durch die Association of Neuroesthetics e.V. in Kooperation mit Dr. Dorothée Legrand vorgetragen.

The interdisciplinary research project "Sound/Space/Body ' A Process" maneuvers at the intersection of art and science. It combines dance, neuroscience, philosophy, and the fine arts to produce new knowledge in the field of perception research in the areas of aesthetics and the human sciences. A sound-space installation by Bernhard Leitner is the project’s starting point. Through the medium of dance, the perception of sound is investigated to ultimately mediate via seeing movement, a "different" ' bodily' hearing. A communication network between the dancers develops from each of the listening constellations. The audience observes this communicative process and thereby gains access to "different" hearing, which ultimately leads to a utopian idea: all of the listeners become dancers.

Through collaboration with the neurological sciences, the artistic project additionally becomes the base of a systematic methodology investigating the "paradox of human subjectivity," that is, simultaneously being subject and object of this world. The experiences of the dancers serve as empirical material to develop new phenomenological questions and hypotheses. The artistic-scientific research results will be presented by the Association of Neuroesthetics e.V. in cooperation with Dr. Dorothée Legrand.
