After A Benguer (2006 Biennale), Serge Aimé Coulibaly is still striving to "revitalise Africa’s choreographic heritage while developing a contemporary gestural language"; and giving hope to the many young Africans who dream only of Europe. Babemba summons four icons (including Mandela) who dared to shape Africa’s future. With four tremendous Burkinabé dancers, a Griot singer and two stringinstrument virtuosi, Babemba shows that dance can say everything; and that tomorrow is already written.
