1-0, matériel du coeur

Beschreibung
Finnish-German group work 1-0, matériel du coeur is a dance about games, rules and rule-breaking. It explores the possibility of deception, the moment when illusion becomes a lie, when reality becomes a dream and when memories and dreams switch places. Choreographer Liisa Pentti explores the dialogue between abstract concepts, such as letters, numbers and geometrical shapes, and our experiential, material reality. The starting point for this work is the integer 0 (zero). It came into our culture from India in the 13th century, slowly changing the fundamentals of our thought. The original Sanskrit term for zero meant emptiness, but in Latin the term converted into a chiffre of nothing. These two words, emptiness and nothing, have very different meanings. Integer zero and negative numbers have enabled a standard of values and a world of concepts which exist on a level of ideas only. Before zero, the integer 1(one) was the basis for everything, the holy unity. With zero, one lost its original meaning and became only a symbol in the endless sequence of numbers. Although zero only exists as a concept, it has a strong influence on how we think and perceive reality. Does nothing exist after all? (Quelle: http://www.liisapentti.com) / jst
