«Take me somewhere nice» is a two-year project about traveling. Christina Ciupke and Darko Dragičević are interested in the insatiable longing for travel and how this desire has led to the phenomenon of mass tourism and other manifestations of travel.

What draws us to faraway places? What do we hope to find there? Are we searching, or is it an escape, a utopian longing? Is traveling existential? Is it an expansion of consciousness?

The possibility of moving spatially is directly linked to the feeling of freedom. This feeling is embodied in tourism as a contemporary habit. Escaping from everyday life and work is at the heart of it.

During their travels, Christina and Darko collected various memorabilia that they will share with the audience in the form of performative compositions.

Since 2018, Darko Dragičević and Christina Ciupke have collaborated on the projects “Failure as Practice” and “Lie and Theft as Practice”. These collaborations have led to their first joint Project “Silent Trio” in 2020-21. At the moment they are engaged in the project «Take me somewhere nice», conceived as a two-year overall framework that addresses travel in six successive Almanacs.

«Take me somewhere nice» ist ein zweijähriges Projekt über das Reisen. Christina Ciupke und Darko Dragičević interessieren sich für die unstillbare Sehnsucht nach dem Reisen und dafür, wie diese Sehnsucht zu dem Phänomen des Massentourismus und anderen Erscheinungsformen des Reisens geführt hat.

Was zieht uns an ferne Orte? Was hoffen wir dort zu finden? Sind wir auf der Suche, oder ist es eine Flucht, eine utopische Sehnsucht? Ist das Reisen existenziell? Ist es eine Bewusstseinserweiterung?

Die Möglichkeit, sich räumlich zu bewegen, ist unmittelbar mit dem Gefühl der Freiheit verbunden. Dieses Gefühl wird im Tourismus als zeitgenössische Gewohnheit verkörpert. Die Flucht aus dem Alltag und der Arbeit steht dabei im Mittelpunkt.

Auf ihren Reisen haben Christina und Darko verschiedene Erinnerungsstücke gesammelt, die sie in Form von performativen Kompositionen mit dem Publikum teilen werden.

Seit 2018 arbeiten Darko Dragičević und Christina Ciupke gemeinsam an den Projekten «Failure as Practice» und «Lie and Theft as Practice». Diese Kooperationen haben in den Jahren 2020-21 zu ihrem ersten gemeinsamen Projekt, «Silent Trio» geführt. Derzeit arbeiten Christina und Darko an dem Projekt «Take me somewhere nice», ein über zwei Jahre angelegtes Gesamtkonzept, das sich in sechs aufeinanderfolgenden Almanachen mit dem Thema Reisen beschäftigt.
