„I found my voice“,
Tanjas Worte zu Beginn ihres choreographischen Schaffens!

Herzlich Willkommen zum Tanja Liedtke Video-Archiv

Tanja Michaela Karin Liedtke, 6. Oktober 1977 – 17.

Welcome to the Tanja Liedtke Video Archive

“I found my voice”,

Tanja’s words at the beginning of her choreographic work!

Tanja Michaela Karin Liedtke, October 6, 1977 - August 17, 2007, enlivened contemporary dance with original and path-breaking forms of expression and filled it with meaningful content. Her choreographies are dynamic, witty and inspiring. She wanted to inspire a wide audience with her work and thus bring people closer to the theater. After her death, the Tanja Liedtke Foundation took over her legacy and entrusted the audiovisual material to the Media library for dance and theatre/International Theatre Institute in order to be archived.

The video archive of the Media library for dance and theatre contains now a comprehensive digital collection that makes it possible to visually experience and follow Tanja’s work even years after her death. Tanja always worked very closely with her exceptionally talented team. In constant exchange and with great respect, she invited everyone in her team to have their say, supported the artistic development of each individual and thus, together with her team, realized her dream of dance theater under the motto “dance with a meaning”. This was the basis of her creative work. This made the choreographies so unique and packed with many different ideas.

Paul White carefully collected all the data on videos depicting Tanja’s works, sifted through the video material and listed all of it, so that now, due to its structure, the WHEN, WHO, WHERE can be easily followed. To give the viewer a better impression, he cut selected scenes together in video clips. The short trailer for “Twelfth Floor” and “construct” is very enjoyable. Here Paul shows details from Tanja’s artistic work.

Parallel to the video archive, the Tanja Liedtke Foundation, with the support of Shane Carroll, created a DIGITAL ARCHIVE, the originals of which were stored in the National Library of Australia (NLA of the Australian capital Canberra).

The Tanja Liedtke Digital Archive contains a wide range of media and documents that tell the story of Tanja Liedtke’s remarkable professional life. From the beginning of her career in the late 1990s, Tanja showed herself to be determined and thoughtful - an artist with a keen imagination who rose to the challenges to make the most of every opportunity for her art. The reviews, articles and other documents in the Digital Archive www.tanja-liedtke-archive.org and on our website www.tanja-liedtke-stiftung.org illustrate the considerable contribution Tanja Liedtke made to dance not only in Australia, but also in Europe and other international platforms in Asia and the USA.

Special thanks go to Thilo Wittenbecher, who won our trust, took over the videos and archived with his team the footage provided by the Tanja Liedtke Foundation.

Tanja’s legacy is preserved through the Foundation’s constant inspiration of her work and life.

The Tanja Liedtke Foundation was established in May 2008.
