Andrey Prikotenko graduated in 1998 from the Theatre Academy of Saint Petersburg. He began in the "Old House" theatre in Russian Novosibirsk, then worked in Turgenev's State Academic Theatre in Orlov, where he produced Mauglí based on Kipling's Jungle Book, The Little Horse - Hunchback based on the fairy tale by Pavel Jershov, and The Days of Our Lives by Leonid Andreyev. His production of Oedipus the King from Saint Peteresburg gained the top theatre award of the city, The Golden Suphit, for the best director. In autumn 2002 Prikotenko introduced his new productions: Strindberg's Dance Macabre, and Winnie the Pooh based on the Book by A. A. Milne.
