The MichaelDouglas Kollektiv is unique within the German Dance Scene, a collective of dance artists that breaks the standard form of Choreographer lead free groups. Founded in 2009 by former ‘pretty ugly tanz köln’ dancers and choreographers Michael Maurissens and Douglas Bateman. The Kollektiv itself is a constellation of dancers and performers who bring years of professional experience to the artistic environment of Köln. Developing new structures for creation the MichaelDouglas Kollektiv has within it's first two seasons co-produced with both the State Theaters of Cologne ( Oper and Schauspiel Köln ) and the University of Cologne ( Hochschule für Musik und Tanz ). Collaborators include Georg Reischl, Stephanie Thiersch, Prue Lang, Martin Sonderkamp, Stefan Dreher, Katie Duck, Fabrice Mazliah, Ellen Bornkessel and Hans.w. Koch. The Kollektiv is dedicated to the development of local scene through the organization of a daily professional dance training and using it's international network to invite artists to give workshops. http://www.mdkollektiv.de
