Agata Maszkiewicz, born in Poland, is a choreographer, performer and a dancer. She lives in France, close to Angouleme (Charente).
In October 2009 she graduated Institute of Dance Arts at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversitaet in Linz, Austria (Master of Arts M.A.). Before starting professional education in a field of dance she was a student of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw.
She is a recipient of the DanceWeb 2006 scholarship program. She continued her education in the Centre Choreoghraphique National (CCN) in Montpellier as a participant of the ex.e.r.ce program (under the guidance of Xavier Le Roy). She works, among others, with a collective Superamas (You dream, BIG3 happy/end, Casino), Ivana Muller (60 minutes of opportunism) and creates her own work. She collaborated among others with Anne Juren, Marian Baillot, Alix Eynaudi, Paula Caspao, Weronika Sczawinska, Vincent Tirmarche, Magdalena Chowaniec. Her piece Duel was created in a frame of a MODUL DANCE project. She was a participant of IDENTITY.MOVE! platform. Since her recent piece Still Life ,Agata is an associated artist of  l’Avant Scene Cognac. She regularly works in Art Stations Foundation in Poznan and generally in Europe.

Coming from a dance education, she kept her interest in choreography in a wide sense. In her work she uses different forms creating dance/theatre performances, videos, installations and texts where choreography is used as the main dramaturgical tool.
Some of the recurring subjects in her work are body and it’s representation related to gender issue, relationship between performer and spectator dealing with embarrassment, or utopia questioning the political body. She likes tracing various social patterns and transforming them on stage in a humorous as well as poetic way. The Austrian critic, Helmut Ploebst called her a sociocritical choreographer.
