Contemporary opera for 5 cellos, a soprano and an actress.
"A poem of love and death for five cellos, a soprano and an actress.
This work explores gender identity, outing, passion, anguish, madness, and the desire to live and to be ourselves. Because although life can be difficult, confused and obscure, it must be free. Deeply: deeply free, deeply ourselves."
The aim of 'Deeply' is to dig deep to the heart of social structures and gender division in our society.
We would like to give voice to the people who can't find a sustainable way of living in a social pattern that works/worked for them. People who have not been able to find the strength or the ability to change the rules and who have thought that the only way out of their situation was through death.Victims of violence, transgenders, homosexuals…
Deeply is a drama/opera production with an ensemble of 5 cellos, one soprano and one actress.
The script tells the story of 4 women and one man with gender identity problems from different countries and periods of history. These tales are mixed with a complex and ironic relationship between Alina, a straight woman with husband and children, and Lara a declared homosexual.
Alina and Lara give voice to their strong feelings, their pain and - step by step - they understand how to live their lives more deeply without being harnessed or trapped by the social stereotypes.
