MEDIATHEK

The Raven is an experimental monologue opera for bass baritone Samuli Taskinen. The liberetto for the piece Edgar Allan Poe's classical poem The Raven.
 One big part of the performance is also the movement. The piece is fully choreographed and composer Mari Sainio and choreographer Oskari Nyyssölä have affected each other during the creative process. Movement is like one of the instruments of the piece.
 The opera itself tells a story about mental illness and the music and soloist create atmosphere that is full of strong emotions from the dark to hope.
