Karl Marx's Kapital. The Musical
Das Kapital by Karl Marx is often quoted, but rarely read.
It’s presumptuous, visionary and remains highly topical
today. Using a tried-and-tested genre that’s ideal for
the masses — the musical — the team of Arnold, Komarov
and Schröder have succeeded in making visible the «mon
-strous» mechanisms of the free market economy and its
impact on living conditions. The texts — complex analyses
of the economy — mutate into tuneful songs that could
certainly catch on. Karl Marx. Das Kapital als Musical is the
second large-scale music theatre production by Trixa
Arnold und Ilja Komarov, after their success with Tell
/Ein heroisches Singspiel. They engage in cavalier fashion
with traditional stage formats and musical genres. They
condense libretti from literary originals, compose the
music, and engage the ideal artists for each new
 production.
