Discontinuations is the result of a dialogue between a young multimedia artist, Fabrizio di Salvo3, and the flutist, Marie Delprat.
The composition originates from an exchange between the electronics utilized and the Paetzold recorder.
Eight megaphones are installed all around the instrument, facing the public in every direction. Like tentacles they are connected to the recorder and bring a wall of sound power.
The musician is buried within the cables that disarrange the scene. The speakers slowly becomes the lungs of sound, with a blood circulation beating from the instrumentalist.
The text, derived from the chapter of ‘’The Plague“ in Théâtre et son double by Antonin Artaud, is present in nourishing the idea of a sick, suffering creature who struggles against contamination, here represented through the electronic element.
Discontinuations acts as a metaphor for man alienated by computer science and digital technology. The fight is against the artificial intelligence, but also against oneself.
