NEW SKIN is a new scenic production in between a concert and an installation, by composer Ingvild Langgård and scenographer Signe Becker.
The main inspiration of the performance is based on the idea of history and time as enormous defining entities, and how our patriarchal era can be regarded as a small parenthesis, in this aspect. The patriarchy can be seen as a derailment from something else. It is the woman´s voice that emerge in the performance, - both textual/musical and spatial/visual. Since the premiere of New Skin the #Metoo-campaign has shown that there will be a time for the female voice to be heard, and time will evoke unavoidable change processes. In this way, we consider New Skin to be highly relevant and an important piece of work in our time.
NEW SKIN is the sound and the room combined - in this performance Becker/Langgard will build a continuous structure in the room that constantly morphs and shifts, creating a piece in between a concert and an installation in motion. Drawing on their combined practices and previous collaborations, they combine puppetry, objects, light and sound, to build a new structure, a staged alchemic reaction.
