OPERA of ENTROPY is a radically new concept of opera, combining media-art, contemporary performance strategies and composition methods, manifesting an interactive postdramatic Media-Opera, that negotiates our present, facing the world-crisis scenario of decomposition, energy devaluation, and disintegration, according to the narrations of real people, creating a resonant space in interaction and discourse with the audience.
The 1 to 1 live communication and discussions with the audience, which is live recorded on video and sound to be processed and integrated live into the composition by Jorge Sánchez-Chiong and Thomas J. Jelinek, personal, instant, live narratives in cooperation and exchange with the audience are created, illustrating and completing the scientific narratives of the live performing experts on the present processes of entropy.
The performance is based on an interactive installation by Jelinek, which is forming a “neuro-landscape” presenting the single technological, philosophical, social or political aspects and theories, „inhabited“ by experts, artists and scientists, as performing communication-partners for the audience. From the landscape the composed sound- and media-structures evolve, culminating into a minimalistic media-noise-opera.
The opera was developed out of a transdisciplinary art&science process manifested in a series of ART-LABs and also presented in several process-performances f.e. Zentralwerk Dresden, Transmediale Berlin, TQW – Vienna etc.
