Daniel Filippo has probably seen a murder. Or maybe he committed it himself? An intensely psychological, thriller-like libretto is written in Spanish and Italian by Maritza Nuñéz originally for a series of three miniature operas, each one telling the same story of a broken mind from a different angle, focussing on the subjective nature of the truth and memory.
The libretto is written and intended to three composers, who also participated the premiere production as musicians. This combination of one author and three musician-composers, is a relatively new approach in the art of chamber opera.
The performance has only one singer, a rare counter-tenor voice type, who does not only sing as counter-tenor and baritone, but extends his technique to the limits by whispering, yelling, speaking, in two roles of Daniel Filippo and Psychiatrist.
The work was premiered in Helsinki, Finland, in April 2017, produced by the Finnish Chamber Opera Association.
