The Tempest begins with a shipwreck.However, Warlikowski chose a mixture of armchair comfort with the sense of the irrevocability of the flight that we all know so well. It came as no surprise when the court sat in airplane seats. All of us have experienced the same feeling of supressed uncertainty that Alonzo, Sebastian and Antonio share at that moment. During the turbulences, doubles of the characters with disfigured faces appeared behind the seats. The characters confronted themselves, but also each and every one of us, the spectators, had to face ourselves.
