Eh Joe shows the anguish of a man (Klaus Herm) who cannot escape from the taunting voices inside his head. Footfalls, written especially for Billie Whitelaw, revolves around a sleepless, pacing woman who speaks to a voice, apparently that of her mother. In Rockaby, the voice is that of an old woman, in a hypnotic counterpoint with the rhythms of a chair's movement. egd
