Solo lamentoso – Sláva Daubnerová – director, author, performer and actor – deals in her solo projects with the real fates of women who left a distinctive mark behind. In her latest solo performance she describes the story of an apparently forgettable woman who fights against the barking of the neighbour’s dog by listening to music. However, a banal dispute between neighbours grows into an open battle between a lonely woman and almost the whole town. Mrs. Eva N. has been listening to the same aria over and over again for the last fourteen years, to the displeasure of the inhabitants of Štúrovo and the interest of tourist and the media. Daubnerová uses the case to look at the theme of the battle between the individual and society. If in previous projects video projections had almost become one of Daubnerová’s stage partners, their position is taken over here by a multi-layered sound track consisting of the actual testimony of Eva N., authentic statements by her neighbours, recordings of news reports, the Placido Domingo aria and original music. The authentic documentary material, in combination with the artificial medium of the choreography and lighting design, create a production on the boundary of documentary, movement and artistically-stylised theatre.
