The Theatre - International theatre studio Farm in the Cave works with actors, performers and dancers from many countries of the world, also leading workshops and engaging in theatrical research. Its productions (Sonnets of Dark Love, Sclavi/The Song of an Emigrant, Waiting Room) have won many prestigious awards both at home and at foreign festivals. The new, long-awaited production, Theatre, was preceded by detailed study of Brazilian ethnographic and musical sources. The result is a stage composition entitled Divadlo / The Theatre, based on the rhythms and dance steps with which Brazilian slaves shook off their chains and created their own world, on the border between musical production, movement theatre and drama. It is closely connected to the search for the meaning and essence of acting.
"The Theatre – This scenic composition by Farm in the Cave draws on the rhythms and dance steps through which slaves in Brazil shook off their bonds and created their own world. DIVADLO / The Theatre is also a metaphor for society and its transformations, in which we pass from one role to another – as we also pass from being a spectator to being an actor, from illusion to reality and vice versa. “Our new project is, however, once again above all associative theatre, based on experience and not literature,” Dočolomanský adds.
Once again, he has not swerved from the route followed. However, he has reached deeper as well as higher. Deeper in the solidity and precision of shapes in the individual figures, in the interconnection of rhythmic and melodic streams with bodily movement, in the composition of the individual pictures and individual parts. And higher in the philosophical dimension.
We are used to the Farm being a group of terrific performers, whose mutual harmony is a safety pre-requisite for the risky scenes, performers who can create, gradate and control the tension among themselves as well as the audience. And in Theatre, they did their best. Without a shade of doubt."

"The boots fall heavily to the floor, the legs are wide open, we are aware of the naked thighs, calf muscles. Surprising stamp and step variations in a furious rhythm, supported by live percussion, create an ecstatic, Dionysian atmosphere, and provide a convincing answer to the question of the essence of theatre."

"In the provocative whirl of their message, the axis of the thought structure – a story about a bull and the eternal game of actors and audience – is a mere fragment. As well as being a brilliant parody of our historising ideas and clichés about commedia dell´arte, Elizabethian, Spanish, or any other theatre, Theatre is the ancient and never-ending story of man, his love, passion, jealousy, revenge, death and vanity. Under the feet of the dancers, out of the stamping of their steps, the eyes of ancient African gods come alive, the prayers of their Brazilian offspring can be heard, and our innermost thoughts awaken as well."
