How does your life experience differ based on where you live? How would it change depending on how much money you make – whether you’re white and divorced or black and widowed?
100% Salford puts the humanity into statistics as we examine what it is to live in this incredible, varied city in 2016.
In a way that graphs and pie-charts never could, this bold and staggeringly ambitious project explores the cultural trends and social make-up of Salford through the prism of 100 people who perfectly represent the city’s population based on age, gender, household type, geography and ethnicity, painting a rare portrait of a complex city.

City of Salford is one of the location-specific variants from around the world in which "100% City" was created in cooperation with local teams. The first “100% City” was staged in Berlin in 2008, and has since visited more than 35 cities, among them London, Paris, Marseille, Vienna, Cologne, Dresden, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Riga, Tokyo, Philadelphia, Sao Paolo and Melbourne. In each city Rimini Protokoll puts on a different show, which carries the city’s name in the Rimini Protokoll concept.
Commissioned by The Lowry in association with Rimini Protokoll as part of the inaugural Week 53 Festival.
