In this video, you will see an acrobatic trio performing at the Zirkus ONstage — Pro Festival, a showcase presenting projects from the yearly creation program, offered to contemporary circus artists in and from Germany since 2019.

“Brace for Impact” was accompanied during the creation process in the 1st Zirkus ON edition 2019-2020 and the three artists search for the limits of balance, in their quest for equilibrium, finding new ways of moving forward and travelling through space.The video captures the atmosphere of the opening night of festival on the stage of Pfefferberg Theater.

In Brace for Impact the artists search for the limits of balance. The piece premiered in 2021 at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen (partner of Zirkus ON). In their quest for equilibrium, they find new ways of moving forward and travelling through space. On their journey they explore each other’s (im)possibilities and discover what it means to put all their weight in someone else’s hands. Brace for Impact presents a physical conversation between three people who keep moving. Throughout the performance, the wordless conversation progresses, and slowly, a pathway is created across the stage. The balance between the three circus artists is constantly being challenged and restored, creating tension and constriction within their communication.


In Brace for Impact, ihrer ersten Kreation, erforschen Britt Timmermans, Mario Kunzi und Tijs Bastiaens die Grenzen des Gleichgewichts. Das Stück feierte 2021 bei den Ruhrfestspielen Recklinghausen
(Zirkus ON Partner) Premiere. Auf ihrer performativen Reise erkunden die Akrobat*innen dabei die (Un)möglichkeiten des Gegenübers. Sie finden heraus, was es bedeutet, sein ganzes
Gewicht vertrauensvoll in die Hände eines anderen zu legen. Mit ihrer nonverbalen Körpersprache erschließen sie neue Wege, sich vorwärtszubewegen und durch den Raum zu reisen. Durch harmonische,
natürlich und gelassene Bewegungen, prägen Knot on Hands eine unvergleichliche Form der Partnerakrobatik und hinterfragen berührend das Gleichgewicht im Miteinander dreier Menschen.
