The film is a presentation of the “Bharatha-to Bartenieff and Beyond” methodology. It is the outcome of an organic integration of two large movement systems in the practice and research of Rajyashree Ramesh. The Classical Indian Dance tradition on the one hand, that she was trained in since early childhood, and the Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies (LBMS), on the other hand, in which she got certified in 2008 after 40 years dance in my body and 30 years Yoga and work in cross-cultural settings. The methodology evolved as she continued to experiment on it in her teaching, performing and choreographic work supported by academic research in the last 13 years. And as it took shape two distinct aspects emerged that take the two aspects of Indian traditions into new realms. She coined these CoreConcepts and FasciaNatya. FasciaNatya is the integration of insights from LBMS and fascia research that she identified in the movement vocabulary of her dance forms. CoreConcepts is the outcome of central insights from her experimental empirical research during her doctorate. Drawing from the theory and practise of emotive expression in the Indian traditions and analysing it from neuroscientific, movement analytic and fascia behaviour perspective she identified what she defines as emergent movement inner to outer in emotive-kinetic processes. These two aspects together now constitute the “Bharatha-to-Bartenieff” two-year modular Advanced Studies Diploma Programme she offers.
