A videodance, a co-production with the British Broadcasting Corporation, shot in its studios in London in May 1986, in two parts: the dance itself and a documentary about its creation. The title comes from a favorite quotation of Cunningham’s, Albert Einstein’s statement, “there are no fixed points in space.” Cunningham appears in the video.
In Cage’s music (Voiceless Essay), consonants in words from some of his writings were recorded, synthesized, and analyzed by computer. For the video, Anastasi made a panoramic backcloth in three sections, one of which was used in the stage version. Bradshaw’s costumes were leotards and tights with a tachiste design. https://www.mercecunningham.org/the-work/choreography/points-in-space/
