Described as an “abstract psychodrama employing movement instead of words” by New York Magazine, Woud is a mid-career piece by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker which was presented at BAM’s 1997 Next Wave Festival. As with much of her earliest work, like Fase and Rosas Danst Rosas, Woud evidences a deep, physical engagement with music—in this case with compositions by Berg, Schönberg, and Wagner. With the first movement marked by the inclusion of Tippeke, a film by Thierry de May, Woud is one of de Keersmaeker’s first forays into multimedia performance. http://levyarchive.bam.org/Detail/occurrences/1831
