Peeping Tom: 32 rue Vandenbranden Erstmals in Berlin zu sehen, obwohl preisgekrönt und weltweit festivalerprobt: das belgische Theaterkollektiv Peeping Tom. Bekannt für seine atmosphärisch dichten und hyperrealistischen Arbeiten, zeigt es mit "32 rue Vandenbranden" eine isolierte Gemeinschaft in einem Trailerpark. Was treibt die Menschen an, die dort im Schnee, wie vergraben leben? Als Voyeure beobachten die Zuschauer*innen die Vorkommnisse durch die Fenster der einfachen Wohnungen: häusliche Gewalt, Sex, Trauer, Tod. Fünf Tänzer*innen und eine Mezzosopranistin hausen in diesem instabilen, surrealen Universum unter ganz eigenen Gesetzen von Zeit und Raum. Die Isolation führt sie und uns in eine unterbewusste Welt der Albträume, Ängste und Begierden – auf die dunkle Seite des Menschseins. Eine eklektische Musikauswahl von Bach bis K-Pop, Bellini bis Pink Floyd begleitet den theatralen Trip. "32 rue Vandenbranden" ist inspiriert von dem Kinofilm "Die Ballade von Narayama" von Shohei Imamura. Der Film zeigt die sagenumwobenen Traditionen einer entlegenen japanischen Dorfgemeinschaft, die ihre Alten mit 70 Jahren zum Sterben auf den Berg Narayama schickt. Peeping Tom wurde im Jahr 2000 von Gabriela Carrizo und Franck Chartier gegründet, die zuvor bei Alain Platel und der Needcompany tanzten. Known for its dense atmospheres and hyperrealistic works, "32 rue Vandenbranden" revolves around the members of a small community living in a trailer park. What drives the people who live there, almost buried in the snow? As voyeurs, the audience observes the events through the windows of the simple dwellings: domestic violence, sex, grief, death. Five dancers and a mezzosoprano inhabit this unstable, surreal universe, governed by their own laws of time and space. Their isolation leads both them and us into an unconscious world of nightmares, fears and desires – to the dark side of what it means to be human. This theatrical trip is accompanied by an eclectic selection of music, ranging from Bach to K-Pop, Bellini to Pink Floyd. "32 rue Vandenbranden" is inspired by the film "The Ballad of Narayama" by Shohei Imamura. The film depicts the legendary traditions of a remote Japanese village community which sends its elderly people to die on Mount Narayama at the age of 70.
