Was ist Macht und wer hat sie? Ist es möglich, dass derjenige, der die Macht zur Schau stellt, sie gar nicht besitzt? In seinem neuen Ensemblestück "Run silent, run deep"analysiert Sifiso Majola verschiedene Manifestationen von Macht. Eine höchstdringliche Frage in einer Welt, die von kolonialer Mimikry widerhallt und in der die Staatsangehörigkeit oftmals auf ein Vakuum verweist, wo man nur existieren kann, wenn man mächtig ist, oder Macht kaufen kann. Aber was passiert, wenn niemand Macht hat? Wo finden die Machtlosen Zuflucht, wenn die Machthaber in Wirklichkeit keinen Einfluss haben? Sifiso Majola wurde in Durban, Südafrika, geboren und wuchs in Kwa-Mashu auf. 2001 trat er dem Phenduka Dance Theatre bei und begann dort seine Ausbildung als Tänzer unter Sifiso E. Kweyama, Sbonakaliso Ndaba und Ondine Bello. Er arbeitete mit Choreografen wie Jay Pather, Gary Gordon, Sifiso E. Kweyama, Feri de Geus, John Allen, Mdu Mtshali, Somizi Mhlongo, Acty Tang, David Gouldie, Mark Hawkins, Lliane Loots und Mdu Mtshali. Seit 2006 arbeitet er mit der First Physical Theatre Company in Grahamstown. Er war mehrfach als Choreograf für DUT Dance Drama Students tätig und wurde mit dem Phillip Stein Award für Dance Umbrella und für Kostümbild beim KZN Dance Link Durban Dance Awards ausgezeichnet. Majola produzierte Arbeiten für das Jomba! Festival in Durban, das FNB VITA Dance Umbrella in Johannesburg und National Festival in Grahamstown. ENGLISH: What is power, and who holds it? Is it possible that the one who flaunts it, doesn't have it? Sifiso Majola's new group piece "Run silent, run deep" is an interrogation of the notions of power, its representations, its masquerades, its presences and absences. It is a resounding question of having, or not having, in a world full of echoes of colonial mimicry, of being, only when one can have. Or buy. What chance to be, when one can't have? What is the place of citizenship within a political and cultural vacuum? If that, which parades as power, is not, what then is the recourse for the absolutely powerless? Sifiso Majola was born in Durban and raised in Kwa-Mashu, South Africa. In 2001 he joined PHENDUKA Dance Theatre and began his training with Sifiso E. Kweyama, Sbonakaliso Ndaba and Ondine Bello. Prior Sifiso worked with a number of high-calibre professional choreographers such as Jay Pather, Gary Gordon, Sifiso E. Kweyama, Feri de Geus (Netherlands), John Allen (USA), Mdu Mtshali, Somizi Mhlongo, Acty Tang, David Gouldie, Mark Hawkins and Lliane Loots and Mdu Mtshali. Since 2006 he has been working with First Physical Theatre Company in Grahamstown. He has choreographed for DUT Dance Drama Students for several times and has also received a Phillip Stein award for Dance Umbrella 2009 and a Costume Design Award at the KZN Dance Link Durban Dance Awards 2009.
