“La Vérité 25X par seconde”, Frédéric Flamand’s show which was created with Ai Weiwei and premiered in 2010 at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg. Ai Weiwei is a symbol of Chinese dissidence and was selected by the editorial staff of French newspaper Le Monde as their person of the year in 2011. “La Vérité 25X par seconde” is a reflection on changes in perception, the ambiguity of the relationship between truth and lies and the status of the body, plagued as it is by evolutions in technology. Godard defined cinema as “THE TRUTH 24 FRAMES PER SECOND”. In the show, electronic scanning by three surveillance cameras creates a new control environment in real time of 25 FRAMES PER SECOND. This sightless vision is confronted by another approach to truth : that of the fragile body and its actual presence, here and now. “The choreographic writing increases like scales. Many-coloured, dynamic, poetic and acrobatic, Flamand’s extremely well written dance gives itself the right to tackle all kinds of styles, ranging from neoclassical to contemporary. The whole thing is a masterly work inspired by splendid tableaux.
