Im Rahmen des Tel Aviv Dance 2010 Festivals. Ana A dialogue between cinema and stage. Dancer solo with video projection With the work ANA, we try to relate to the political condition in Israel, from within the personal, subjective point of view. As individuals who have been raised in a society where political life has always been intensely complex, often painful, we can easily say that all our works are political, directly or indirectly. We took a resolute decision and chose to talk straight and directly about the situation. We, as artists who have adopted the goal of looking at reality in a clear, unflinching way, feel it is our duty to express our view of the occupation, discrimination, and the plunder taking place in this land, with a profound hope for change. Through our eyes, our bodies, our experiences, we have created a performance interweaving the worlds of dance and video, attempting to reflect the reality of our existence. As we have embarked on our journey, traveling to the grey zone of dispute, the borders, the walls, the towns and villages, abandoned or still settled, we were constantly accompanied by one clear voice, the voice of the Palestinian people, the voice of Mahmoud Darwish.. In Darwish's writing one finds a rare coexistence of the personal: small childhood memories, a particular doorstep, an intimate hand gesture, and the political context; occupation, the war in which he and his people are living in, through all these years. With his deep sensitivity, Darwish has always been a source of inspiration to our own internal voices, supporting us even at moments of difficulties to embrace this reality, to make it ours. Throughout the work, the performer murmurs and recites, over and over again, lines from Darwish's poem: " The longer you gaze at the rose wounding the wall, and you shall say there is hope to be redeemed of the sand, then your heart will turn greener " In our minds, one should linger while gazing at the rose's beauty, at the deep wounds of the wall, and at the belief in the possibility of being reborn... The language of our creations blends a documentary point of view, where places of extreme strife and contention like Abu Dis, Hebron, and Gaza are filmed, interwoven with abstract facets speaking of our own voyage; the hand remembering the sensation of touching the wall, The nose remembering the smell of the earth, the voice of the land we step on, containing the stories, the secrets, the pains.. Simultaneously, on stage, the performer embodies the figure traveling through a process of transformations; at times a real person with a real life story, at others an abstract being symbolizing forgotten landscapes. We seek to illuminate the invisible from within the visible, a minimalist hand gesture, setting a whole world of images into motion. A crack in a wall is telling secrets hiding behind, multi-layered overtones emanating new musical worlds. In SEAL we aim to attain a sense of equilibrium of matter and anti-matter. We shall present the audience with the time, space, and esprit to embark on an odyssey of the fragile, exposed human yearning for a sane life.. (quelle:tamarborer.com) isrr
