Unspeakable is an experiment in maximum reduction, in which the basic elements of choreography body, space, light, music, movement and time try to communicate their existence by way of contrasts.
In Unspeakable, the choreography keeps a certain distance from the music, like a remote echo or a premonition of what is to come.
Unspeakable. Marc Vanrunxt sees dance as a silent art, a passage to what cannot be said, an escape from fixation. It is here that his kinship with the work of Beckett and Feldman lies. But in spite of this, here he uses text for the first time, in order to focus the contrasts on that level too: as an introduction to the solo, inside and outside of it. Or neither.
Marc Vanrunxt has never conformed to trends, nor has he built up an extensive set of norms. His work is highly individual, even puzzling, hovering between mysticism and materialism. As a consequence he occupies a unique position in the dance world that can be rediscovered again and again. Unspeakable has been widely acclaimed as Vanrunxts masterpiece.
Kitty Kortes Lynch studied at Mudra in Brussels and has performed for many of Belgiums contemporary choreographers. From 1996 to 2000, Kortes Lynch was a key member of P.A.R.T.S.
