Can you see me?

Beschreibung
The piece opened with "Can you see me?" as she stepped in and out of pools of light. Could we she her and could she see us? For a while she left the audience in the dark to be watched by two large eyes projected onto screens on the stage. Dimitriou then took us through her dance, first by telling us the names of the moves such as "footballer's wife", "climbing over a fence", then by demonstrating them and speaking the labels as she went along. This had charm. She then abandoned the stage and told to us to visualise her dance as two stage hands cleared away the screens and other paraphernalia. At the end her last question seemed to challenge the reality of the whole situation: "Can I end this dance with a blink of my eyelids?". She did, and dismissed us. Zoe Dimitriou got away with all this amusing post-modern gallimaufry, just. (Quelle: http://www.ballet.co.uk) / jst
