Long Dis / Tanz

Beschreibung
"If a straight line is the shortest distance between two fated and inevitable points, digressions will lengthen it; and if these digressions become so complex, so tangled and tortuous, so rapid as to hide their own tracks, who knows - perhaps death my not find us, perhaps time will loose its way and perhaps we can remain concealed in our shifting hiding places." - (Calvino - Six Memos for the Next Millenium) Long Dis/Tanz is a long distance collaboration between Christina Medina (Canada/Austria) and Catherine Guerin (Germany). During the creation process Catherine and I communicated with each other by phone, email and through the exchange of videos, pictures, text excerpts, music and whatever seems relevant or useful for constructing and reconstructing the dance. We continously investigate how long distance communication can work to create and influence the dance. The quote by Calvino illuminates the basic concept of our discourse.
