The chronological observation of each of the plays by Myriam Gourfink reveals as much a continuity in his choreographic work is a constantly deepened requirement. His first solo Waw (1998) can be read as an inaugural gesture in in which she lays the foundations of a dance that is both organic and hypnotic. Her silhouette modeled in a red latex suit, Myriam Gourfink slowly advances towards the audience following the imaginary route with a simple straight line. It is from this drawing in the space, refined to the extreme, that it builds his gestures: positions always facing or with his back to the audience, never in profile, an extreme tension that makes you feel the internal movements of the body, breathing, perspiration time, stretched to become unreal.
It is not a question of building a minimalist dance but of the bring back to its most tenuous expression, at its origin. To be questioned physically his first movements, as do in choreographic registers very different, Jérôme Bel, Boris Charmatz, Emmanuelle Huynh, Xavier Leroy, Catherine Contour, Claudia Triozzi, Alain Buffard, Jennifer Lacey or La Ribot.
