Body dysmorphia, self-isolation. How does one’s perception of the body construct but also distort the relationship we have to ourselves? How does the environment influence us?
From the day we are born society puts us in a box and tells us what is good and what is not good enough. This can influence us in a harmful way. So much so that we take all that rejection and put it onto ourselves, turning it into self-hate. Is there an escape from this system? Can we get out of the box? Can we recover from something that has marked us forever? How can we find peace within a society that limits us and our potential?

Sara Müller Troconis was born in Stuttgart and started performing show dance at age 10. From an early age, it was clear to her that dancing was her true passion. At age 16, she joined the Stuttgarter Ballett Jung, where she discovered her love for ballet, developed her technique and explored other styles, such as contemporary and jazz. She started teaching those styles at Contemp Dance Center and Karren Foster Academy. To further her training, she went to the jazz-based education DanceEmotion in Freiburg. For her last year she went to Berlin Dance Institute to focus on movement research and on developing her own choreographies. Not my responsibility is Sara’s first choreographic work.

Körperdysmorphie, Selbstisolation. Wie konstruiert oder gar verzerrt die eigene Körperwahrnehmung die Beziehung zu uns selbst? Wie beeinflusst uns unsere Umgebung?
Vom Tag unserer Geburt an steckt uns die Gesellschaft in eine Schublade und sagt uns, was gut und was nicht gut genug ist. Das kann uns auf eine schädliche Art und Weise beeinflussen. So sehr, dass wir all diese Ablehnung auf uns selbst übertragen und sie in Selbsthass verwandeln. Gibt es einen Ausweg aus diesem System? Können wir aus diesem System ausbrechen? Können wir uns von etwas erholen, das uns für immer gezeichnet hat? Wie können wir in einer Gesellschaft, die uns und unser Potenzial einschränkt, Frieden finden?

Das A.PART Festival 2024 wird aus Mitteln der Spartenoffenen Förderung der Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt gefördert.

Sara Müller Troconis wurde in Stuttgart geboren und begann im Alter von 10 Jahren mit dem Showtanz. Schon früh war für sie klar, dass Tanzen ihre wahre Leidenschaft ist. Mit 16 Jahren trat sie dem Stuttgarter Ballett Jung bei, wo sie ihre Liebe zum Ballett entdeckte, ihre Technik weiterentwickelte und andere Stile wie Contemporary und Jazz erkundete. Sie begann, diese Stile im Contemp Dance Center und der Karren Foster Academy zu unterrichten. Um ihre Ausbildung zu vertiefen, besuchte sie die jazzbasierte Ausbildung DanceEmotion in Freiburg. Für ihr letztes Jahr ging sie an das Berlin Dance Institute, um sich auf Bewegungsforschung und die Entwicklung eigener Choreografien zu konzentrieren.
