MEDIATHEK

A choreographic solo exploration that takes as a departure point the embodiment of speculative and dystopian landscapes, operating through an ongoing relational process with different materials which allow the constant cycle of mutation and reconfiguration of the body. In a semiotic chain of living paintings, this body is immersed, mobilized, and affected by the passage of time and deep contemplation, opening readings in a liminal space between the pictorial and the performative, evoking nuanced forms of presence and memories of a non-existent future.

The research is centered around open questions and themes such as the feeling of loss of the world, the end of times, and the attempt to decolonize futuristic imaginaries.

The audience will be invited to experience this performance accompanied by a suggested playlist, using their own mobile phones and headphones. The playlist will be available on various platforms and can be accessed via QR codes at the entrance. Each person can individually change, skip songs, or simply take their headphones off and embrace silence.

Valentina Wong is a Chilean dancer, choreographer, and performer with Chinese roots, based in Berlin. She graduated in Contemporary Dance from the University of Chile and obtained an MA in Scenic Practice and Visual Culture from UCLM, Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain. She has collaborated as a performer and dancer with directors such as Amanda Piña, Rocío Marano, and Mirjam Gurtner, among others. Additionally, she has conducted artistic research premiering works of her own authorship such as „O”, „Ren, an immense world is reflected in the dark inner life” and her ongoing research „Cancelled Futures”, Mantaining active collaboration in various countries. Her interests lie in the creation of performative universes, image composition, and the constant redefinition of choreography and contemporary dance, as well as of decolonial practices and discourses. Exploring the relationship between art and spirituality, Indigenous futurism, postnatural studies, and dystopian fiction.

Ein choreografisches Solo, das sich mit dem Gefühl des Weltverlusts, dem Ende der Zeiten und der Dekolonisierung futuristischer Vorstellungen beschäftigt. Ausgangspunkt ist die Verkörperung dystopischer Bilder und spekulativer Landschaften, die durch den Lauf der Zeit und die Verwendung natürlicher Materialien überflutet, mobilisiert, verklärt und verändert werden. Im Grenzbereich zwischen dem Malerischen und dem Performativen werden Zustände der Gegenwart und Erinnerungen an eine nicht existierende Zukunft evoziert.

Im Mittelpunkt der Recherche stehen offene Fragen und Themen wie das Gefühl des Weltverlusts, das Ende der Zeiten und der Versuch, futuristische Vorstellungen zu dekolonisieren.

Das Publikum ist eingeladen, die Performance mit einer vorgeschlagenen Wiedergabeliste zu erleben, wobei es seine eigenen Mobiltelefone und Kopfhörer benutzen kann. Die Wiedergabeliste ist auf verschiedenen Plattformen verfügbar und kann über QR-Codes am Eingang abgerufen werden. Jede Person kann individuell wechseln, Lieder überspringen oder einfach die Kopfhörer abnehmen und die Vorstellung in Stille erleben.

Valentina Wong ist eine chilenische Tänzerin, Choreografin und Performerin mit chinesischen Wurzeln und lebt in Berlin. Sie studierte zeitgenössischen Tanz an der Universität von Chile sowie Szenische Praxis und Visueller Kultur am UCLM, Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spanien.
Als Performerin und Tänzerin hat sie u. a. mit Amanda Piña, Rocío Marano und Mirjam Gurtner zusammengearbeitet und eigene Arbeiten entwickelt wie beispielsweise „O“, „Ren, an immense world is reflected in the dark inner life“ und ihre laufende künstlerische Recherche „Cancelled Futures“. Ihr Interesse gilt der Schaffung performativer Universen, der Bildkomposition und ständigen Neudefinition von Choreografie und zeitgenössischen Tanz sowie von dekolonialen Praktiken und Diskursen. Sie erforscht die Beziehung zwischen Kunst und Spiritualität, indigenem Futurismus, postnatürlichen Studien und dystopischer Fiktion.
