MEDIATHEK

This piece should be approached as a short amateur punk album, where we will co-sing futile systemic grievances, try to flirt and observe the idea of deconstructing ballet, whilst decorating a Christmas tree that will decent to nothingness. Bound by informality this piece will try to knit short personal and collective commentaries around patterned embodiment of social defeat in four chroreographic songs.

Affected by necropolitics, the politics of location and the idea that neither the human nor the topos(:space) is universal, this piece came as a mean of understanding and a need of redefining the consensus of what it means to be human (a term that is not neutral), through breaking down the classicist, neoliberal, patriarchal expected forms. How can space be found for everyone?

The premiere of this work took place as part of the second edition of the Blank Check Festival on 21 September 2023 at DOCK 11 / DOCK ART; produced, curated and performed by nein9 and with the kind support of DOCK ART.

Erika Kookie Filia: After studying speech pathology (BSc, 2015) and music therapy, Erika decided to follow xier/xies passion for dance. After a year of dance training in CobosMika (Spain, 2016), xier/xies continued xier/xies studies at SEAD, Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance and graduated in 2022. Driven by collectivity and creativity, Erika loves to immerse in deep sensory, imaginative physical experiences and extend into the therapeutic realm. Erika’s physicality, stems from intrinsic research on xier/xies part, leading to improvisation and various research processes. They often cross the line between performance art and acting. These aspects in dance allow Erika to immerse xier/xies in the multi-layered work and appreciate the expertise of others in the creative environment. Erika believes that these processes increase and expand the level of complexity in her own artistic practice, as the practice is not only related to itself, but more importantly to the coexistence of diversity. Erika has performed works by Elina Pirrinen, Hillel Kogan, Meytal Blanaru, Juxtapoz Company, Nicholas Vladislav, Manuel Ronda, Oded Graf, Marlene Monteiro Freitas, among others, while creating pieces that serve xier/xies own choreographic interests.

Dieses Stück ist wie ein kleines Amateur-Punk-Album, in dem wir gemeinsam über sinnlose systemische Missstände singen, mit der Idee der Dekonstruktion des Balletts flirten und beobachten, wie der Weihnachtsbaum, den wir gerade schmücken, in Nichts zerfällt. Kurze persönliche und kollektive Kommentare rund um die Verkörperung sozialer Niederlagen werden in diesem kleinen informellen Stück in vier choreografischen Liedern gestrickt.

Beeinflusst von Nekropolitik, der Politik des Ortes und der Idee, dass weder der so genannte Human/Mensch noch der Topos/Raum universell ist, entstand dieses Stück als Mittel zum Verständnis und zur Notwendigkeit, den Konsens darüber, was es bedeutet, „human“ zu sein (ein Begriff, der nicht neutral ist), neu zu definieren, indem die klassizistischen, neoliberalen, patriarchalischen Erwartungsformen aufgebrochen werden. Wie kann Raum für alle geschaffen werden?

Erika Kookie Filia: Nach dem Studium der Sprachpathologie (BSc, 2015) und der Musiktherapie entschied sich Erika der Leidenschaft für den Tanz zu folgen. Nach einem Jahr Tanzausbildung in CobosMika (Spanien, 2016) setzte xier xies Studium an der SEAD, Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance fort und schloss 2022 xies Studium ab. Angetrieben von Kollektivität und Kreativität, liebt Erika es, in tiefe sensorische, fantasievolle körperliche Erfahrungen einzutauchen und in den therapeutischen Bereich ausdehnen. Erikas Körperlichkeit, stammt aus intrinsischer Forschung xieser Seits, die zur Improvisation und verschiedenen Forschungsprozessen führt. Oft überschreiten sie die Grenze zwischen Performancekunst und Schauspiel. Diese Aspekte im Tanz ermöglichen es Erika, in die vielschichtige Arbeit einzutauchen und die Expertise anderer im kreativen Umfeld zu schätzen. Erika ist überzeugt, dass diese Prozesse den Grad der Komplexität im eigenen künstlerischen Handeln erhöhen und erweitern, da das Handeln nicht nur auf sich selbst bezogen ist, sondern vor allem auf das Miteinander von Vielfalt. Erika hatt unter anderem Werke von Elina Pirrinen, Hillel Kogan, Meytal Blanaru, Juxtapoz Company, Nicholas Vladislav, Manuel Ronda, Oded Graf, Marlene Monteiro Freitas aufgeführt und gleichzeitig Stücke geschaffen, die ihrem/seinem eigenen choreografischen Interessen dienen.
