“HEKATOMBE III“ is a two channel video-installation with live performance. Video projections portray leaders of native peoples from territories and cultures of the so-called Americas, entering into a synchronous dialogue with one another. “Movements and Rituals for the renewal of the World” creates a web of relationships that expands into cartographies, dances, and soundscapes that aims to embody earth’s fabric: our shared home.

„HEKATOMBE III” reflects on the relationship between human beings and Gaia – the idea of the Earth as a dynamic living being, through the lens of indigenous ceremony. The performance, with an anticolonial perspective, documents millennia-old practices and messages, interweaving visions, movements and wisdom of a reciprocal relationship with planet earth.

Martha Hincapié Charry is a Colombian of indigenous origin. As a BIPOC artist, choreographer, performer and curator specialising in decoloniality, she lives in Berlin. She studied at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen under the direction of Pina Bausch and at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). In 2019, she was a fellow of the Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography. Her works have been invited to festivals and venues in Europe, Asia and the so-called Americas. Martha Hincapié Charry has been the artistic director of "Plataforma/SurReal Berlin" since 2011. In her curatorial work, she opens up a space for dialogue between the continents, in which the themes of climate chaos, (de)colonialism and the relationship between art, people/more than people, and the visible and invisible world find a platform through intersectional reflection.

„HEKATOMBE III“ ist eine Zweikanal-Videoinstallation mit Live-Performance von Choreografin und Performerin Martha Hincapié Charry. In mehreren Videoprojektionen treten Anführer*innen einheimische Bevölkerungsgruppen aus Gebieten und Kulturen der sogenannten Amerikas in einen synchronen Dialog miteinander. „movements and rituals for the renewal of the world“ entfaltet ein Beziehungsgeflecht aus Kartografien, Tänzen und Klanglandschaften, die gemeinsam das Gewebe der Erde verkörpern: unsere geteilte Heimat.

„HEKATOMBE III“ reflektiert die Beziehung zwischen menschlichen Lebewesen und Gaia – die Idee von der Erde als dynamisches, selbstorganisiertes Lebewesen – durch die Linse indigener Rituale. Aus einer antikolonialistischen Perspektive dokumentiert die Performance jahrtausendealte Praktiken und Botschaften, Visionen und Weisheiten von eine wechselseitige Beziehung zum Planeten Erde.

Martha Hincapié Charry ist Kolumbianerin mit indigener Herkunft. Als BIPOC-Künstlerin, Choreografin, Performerin und Kuratorin mit dem Schwerpunkt Dekolonialität lebt sie in Berlin. Sie studierte an der Folkwang Hochschule Essen unter der Leitung von Pina Bausch sowie an der Universität der Künste UdK Berlin. 2019 war sie Stipendiatin des Pina Bausch Fellowships für Tanz und Choreografie. Ihre Arbeiten wurden zu Festivals und Veranstaltungsorten in Europa, Asien und den sogenannten Amerikas eingeladen. Seit 2011 ist Martha Hincapié Charry künstlerische Leiterin von „Plataforma/SurReal Berlin“. In ihrer kuratorischen Arbeit öffnet sie einen Dialograum zwischen den Kontinenten, in dem durch eine intersektionale Reflexion die Themen Klimachaos, (De-)Kolonialismus und die Beziehung zwischen Kunst, Mensch/mehr als Mensch, und die sichtbare mit der unsichtbaren Welt eine Plattform finden.
