SEGUIR, Stages a body that demanded patience and appreciation trough the recovery of surgeries to remove endometriosis and tumours. It is about the female self, identity and resilience in a body that is transforming while ageing, while living, while dancing. On this work I take space and time for a ritualistic momento to honor my body and women’s body, while dancing on stage with a shimmery yet dangerous company.

PLATAFORMA BERLIN 2023

Decolonial and intersectional BIPoC/Latinx (Black Indigenous People of Color/of Latin origin) platform for dance, performance, installation, documentary, discourse and screen dance.

PLATAFORMA BERLIN makes the body the protagonist and overarching theme, exploring the current existential crisis of humanity; it is a transdisciplinary reflection that connects the ancestors and the future of human and non-human bodies in the twilight of ecological catastrophe. PLATAFORMA BERLIN creates a movement of intercontinental Amazons & Shamans proposing geopolitical actions that address the way we influence society with myths, rituals, animality and statements about progress.

The artists* from Bolivia, Mexico and Peru invited to this 10th edition of PLATAFORMA BERLIN embody the transformation of colonial wounds and break the spell of colonial programming.

PLATAFORMA BERLIN is an initiative of BIPoC/Latinx curator Martha Hincapié Charry in collaboration with a group of local artists and institutions including Barazani, DOCK 11, Radialsystem, Instituto Cervantes, Uferstudios Berlin, Mime Centrum, Goethe-Institut and Ibero-American Embassies.

Areli Moran is a Mexican, LGBTQ+ performer, choreographer and cultural manager based in Berlin. Her creations present visually powerful perspectives on current feminist and political topics through deep autobiographical excavation. Her work has been presented in Mexico, Canada, Berlin, Denmark and Spain where she also developed diverse artistic collaborations. Her connection to Mexico continues as an artistic director of the multidisciplinar studio Espacio Expectante that she founded in 2017 and Festival Artes Vivas in Monterrey, Mexico. Since her arrival in Berlin Areli has been supported on different occasions by the Federal and State founding bodies of Germany and premiered her first German production at Tanztage in Sophiensaele Berlin, 2019.

SEGUIR/To Follow inszeniert einen Körper, der während der Genesung von Operationen zur Entfernung von Endometriose und Tumoren Geduld und Wertschätzung verlangt. Es geht um das weibliche Selbst; um Identität und Widerstandsfähigkeit eines Körpers, der sich verändert, während er altert, während er lebt, während er tanzt. Diese Arbeit nimmt sich Raum und Zeit für einen rituellen Moment, um den weiblichen Körper zu ehren, gefährlich schillernd.

PLATAFORMA BERLIN schafft eine Bewegung von interkontinentalen Amazonen & Schamanen, die geopolitische Aktionen vorschlagen, die sich mit der Art und Weise befassen, wie wir die Gesellschaft mit Mythen, Ritualen, Animalität und Aussagen über Fortschritt beeinflussen.

Die zu dieser 10. Ausgabe von PLATAFORMA BERLIN eingeladenen Künstler*innen aus Bolivien, Mexiko und Peru verkörpern die Verwandlung kolonialer Wunden und brechen den Bann kolonialer Programmierung.

Areli Moran ist Mexikanerin, LGBTQ+-Performerin, Choreografin und Kulturmanagerin und lebt in Berlin. Ihre Arbeiten präsentieren visuell kraftvolle Perspektiven auf aktuelle feministische und politische Themen. Ihre Arbeiten wurden in Mexiko, Kanada, Berlin, Dänemark und Spanien gezeigt, wo sie auch verschiedene künstlerische Kollaborationen entwickelte. Ihre Verbindungen zu Mexiko bestehen weiterhin als künstlerische Leiterin des von ihr 2017 gegründeten multidisziplinären Studios Espacio Expectante und des Festivals Artes Vivas in Monterrey, Mexiko. In Berlin wurde Areli brachte ihre erste deutsche Produktion bei den Tanztagen in den Sophiensaelen Berlin 2019 zur Uraufführung.
