Vanilla: the opposite of kinky, a word used to describe someone with little inclination to do anything spontaneous or exciting, either sexually, or in general everyday life.  
Vanilla sex: sex that usually doesn’t explore the edges of people’s comfort zones the way kinky sex might. Vanilla sex is also a term for whatever is stereotypically normal in any given period of time or social circle.  

In Vanilla three performers explore the relationship of pleasure, sexual desire and food to question normativity in sexual practices.Through the intimate and vulnerable sharing of personal and fictional sex stories, the performance conducts a warm and soft exercise of imagination. In the process, the careful making and savoring of sauces on stage reflects on the care that is essential in sexual encounters. Sexuality can be everywhere and at any time. Vanilla gently invites the audience to open their sexual fantasy box and to put together their own recipes.

SOPHIE GUISSET is a Berlin based performer and performance maker. Her artistic practice focuses on the notions of intimacy, pleasure and playfulness. In her performances, she engages with spaces that allow protagonists, or players, to find a certain freedom and safety in order to explore private spheres. After completing her education in acting at the Royal Conservatory of Mons (BE) in 2011, she took part in the Dance Intensive Program at Tanzfabrik. Berlin in 2013. She has been collaborating with a.o. Olga Tsvetkova, Fanny Brouyaux, Consolate Sipérius, Enis Turan, Natasza Gerlach and Phillip Urrutia.

Vanilla: das Gegenteil von kinky. Ein Wort, das jemanden beschreibt, der wenig Lust hat, etwas Spontanes oder Aufregendes zu tun, sei es beim Sex oder im Alltag.  

Vanilla-Sex: Sex, bei dem die Grenzen der eigenen Komfortzone nicht so ausgelotet werden, wie es beim Kinky-Sex der Fall sein könnte. Vanilla-Sex ist auch ein Begriff für das, was in einer bestimmten Zeit oder einem bestimmten sozialen Umfeld stereotypisch normal ist.  

Vanilla erforscht die Beziehung zwischen Genuss, Begehren und Essen, um die Normativität sexueller Praktiken in Frage zu stellen. Durch den intimen und verletzlichen Austausch von persönlichen und fiktiven Sexgeschichten führt die Performance sanfte Übungen für die Fantasie durch. Auf der Bühne wird dabei mit der sorgfältigen Herstellung und dem Genuss von Soßen über die Fürsorge reflektiert, die bei sexuellen Begegnungen wesentlich ist. Vanilla lädt die Zuschauenden liebevoll dazu ein, die sexuelle Fantasiekiste zu öffnen und ihre ganz eigenen Rezepte zusammenzustellen.

In ihren Performances erschafft sie Räume, die den Protagonistinnen oder Mitspielerinnen eine gewisse Freiheit und Sicherheit geben, um private Sphären zu erkunden. Nachdem sie 2011 ihre Schauspielausbildung am Königlichen Konservatorium von Mons (BE) abgeschlossen hatte, nahm sie 2013 am Dance Intensive Program der Tanzfabrik teil. Sie hat u.a. mit Olga Tsvetkova, Fanny Brouyaux, Consolate Sipérius, Enis Turan, Natasza Gerlach, Lisa Vereertbrugghen und Phillip Urrutia zusammengearbeitet.
