MEDIATHEK

For me, music is the source of dance. If I open myself to it with all my senses and give myself to it, it hits my body with full force and moves it. When I listen to music with my eyes closed, I see and feel myself dancing to it. I see my movements, the clothes I am wearing, the place I am in. The images before my inner eyes arise in me through the music. Why do these images look the way they do? I don’t know, however, it is a state where everything that arises feels right, just as it is.
When the music kicks, I feel and see what you can now feel and see. Close your eyes, let it hit you – and if you feel like it – move! Feels good, doesn’t it?

AMINATA REUSS is a contemporary dancer and choreographer based in Berlin. During her school years she completed a three-year preliminary dance training course at Tanzfabrik Würzburg. In 2021 and 2022 she completed the Basis Program and the Dance Program at the Motion*s dance school in Berlin. She also works as a circus educator at Circus Blamage and is a member of the drag queen group ‘Hayzel Butt & her Nuts’. For Aminata, dance is a way of expression and a method of mindfulness, as well as a means of imparting knowledge and a form of activism.

Musik stellt für mich die Quelle des Tanzes dar. Öffne ich mich ihr mit all meinen Sinnen und gebe mich ihr hin, trifft sie meinen Körper mit voller Wucht und bewegt ihn. Höre ich Musik mit geschlossenen Augen, sehe und fühle ich mich zu ihr tanzen. Ich sehe meine Bewegungen, die Kleidung, die ich trage, den Ort, an dem ich mich befinde…. Die Bilder vor meinem inneren Auge entstehen in mir durch die Musik. Wieso diese Bilder so aussehen, wie sie aussehen? Ich weiß es nicht. Es ist jedoch ein Zustand, in dem sich alles, was entsteht, genau so richtig anfühlt, wie es ist.

Wenn die Musik kickt, fühle und sehe ich, was jetzt ihr fühlen und sehen könnt. Macht mal die Augen zu, lasst euch treffen – und wenn ihr euch danach fühlt – bewegt euch. Fühlt sich gut an, oder?

AMINATA REUSS ist zeitgenössische Tänzerin und Choreografin, die ihren Lebensmittelpunkt in Berlin hat. Während ihrer Schulzeit schloss sie eine dreijährige Tanzvorausbildung in der Tanzfabrik Würzburg ab. 2021 und 2022 absolvierte sie das Basis Programm und das Dance Programm an der Tanzschule Motion*s in Berlin. Darüber hinaus arbeitet sie als Zirkuspädagogin im Circus Blamage und ist Mitglied in der Dragqueen-Show Gruppe Hayzel Butt & her Nuts. Tanz stellt für Aminata eine Weise des Ausdrucks und Methode der Achtsamkeit dar, genauso wie ein Mittel zur Wissensvermittlung und eine Art von Aktivismus.
