In DOOM, the second part in the trilogy in praise of vulnerability, Teresa Vittucci invites the Composer and Performer Colin Self to explore the origins of The Female as described and created in Greek Mythology and the book of Genesis of the bible: EVE and PANDORA.

The roles of Eve and Pandora, whose stories serve as cautionary tales about the threat of female knowledge to this day, have been paramount for the position of people assigned to the gender “woman” in all Christian Judaic and Abrahamic societies. The piece examines the two female figures, their paralleled fate, reception, narrative and impact from a critical and queer-feminist perspective. In a poetic exploration Vittucci and Self submerge themselves into the field of unknowing knowledge. Who is hurt when female curiosity meets the patriarchal structure? And what risk lies at the core of the decision to open one’s eyes nonetheless?

In DOOM erforscht Teresa Vittucci gemeinsam mit dem Komponisten und Performer Colin Self die Ursprünge der Weiblichkeit, wie sie in der griechischen Mythologie und im Buch Genesis der Bibel beschrieben und geschaffen wurden: Eva und Pandora.

Die Rollen der Eva und Pandora, deren Geschichten bis heute als warnende Erzählungen über die Bedrohung durch weibliches Wissen dienen, waren in allen christlich-jüdischen und abrahamitischen Gesellschaften von entscheidender Bedeutung für die Stellung von Menschen, die dem Geschlecht „Frau“ zugeordnet werden. Das Stück untersucht die beiden Frauenfiguren, ihr paralleles Schicksal, ihre Rezeption, Erzählung und Wirkung aus einer kritischen und queer-feministischen Perspektive. Auf einer poetischen und humorvollen Spurensuche begeben sich Vittucci und Self in das Feld des ungewissen Wissens dieser Geschichten. Wer wird verletzt, wenn weibliche Neugier auf die patriarchale Struktur trifft? Und welches Risiko birgt die Entscheidung, die Augen trotz allem doch zu öffnen? DOOM ist der zweite Teil von Teresa Vittuccis Trilogie in praise of vulnerability.
