What does it mean to feel the suffering of another person and to whom does the pain belong? In A Strategy for The Fragile, dancer and choreographer Shiori Tada dances in a full-body costume that also covers her face, in order to investigate how the gaze of the audience relates to an anonymous body. Can dance contribute to the realization of the interpersonal barriers created by current sociopolitical conditions? Between hope and horror, Shiori Tada’s solo poses questions about empathy, explores the boundary between the privileged and the supposedly dispensable life, reminding us of mutual connectedness in the modern world.

Was bedeutet es, das Leid eines anderen Menschen zu empfinden, und wem gehört dann der Schmerz? Die Tänzerin und Choreografin Shiori Tada tanzt in A strategy for the fragile in einem Ganzkörperkostüm, das auch ihr Gesicht bedeckt, um zu untersuchen, wie sich der Blick der Zuschauer*innen zu einem anonymen Körper verhält. Kann Tanz dazu beizutragen, zwischenmenschliche Barrieren zu überwinden, die von aktuellen gesellschaftspolitischen Bedingungen geschaffen werden? Zwischen Hoffnung und Schrecken stellt Shiori Tada in ihrem Solo Fragen zu Empathie, untersucht die Grenze zwischen dem privilegierten und dem vermeintlich entbehrlichen Leben und erinnert an unsere gegenseitige Verbundenheit in der modernen Welt.
