The weather in the room explores altered states of speed through the emotional, meditative and ambient effects of bodies and landscapes. Sliding between gesture and stillness, passing flow into form, movement enmeshes with the dreamy hybridity of time and attention as material. We have zoomed into a point where fluctuating particles of color, light, texture and detail become visible, an experiment with planes of existence beyond the boundaries of contemporary personhood. Isolated from its causes and purposes in choreographic pasts and futures, this molecular thingness seems to unwrap at a level below action, utility, efficiency or (however abstract) causal unfolding.

SLOWDANCE is a series of works where every piece describes a slow experience inside different iterations of context: the theater, the museum, the forest, the church. The phrase ‘slow dance’ is used both as a title and gathering term for dance that resonates with the wider genre of Slow Art: an art movement of embodied watching that calls attention to the experience of time unfolding.

The weather in the room erkundet veränderte Geschwindigkeitszustände durch die emotionale, meditative und atmosphärische Wirkung von Körpern und Landschaften. Zwischen Geste und Stille gleitend, den Flow in Form transformierend, verwebt sich die Bewegung mit der träumerischen Hybridität von Zeit und Aufmerksamkeit als Material. Wir haben uns an einen Punkt heran gezoomt, an dem fluktuierende Partikel von Farbe, Licht, Textur und Detail sichtbar werden, ein Experiment mit Existenzebenen jenseits der Grenzen des zeitgenössischen Menschseins. Isoliert von ihren Ursachen und Zwecken in choreografischen Vergangenheiten und Zukünften scheint sich diese molekulare Dinglichkeit auf einer Ebene unterhalb von Aktion, Nutzen, Effizienz oder (wie abstrakt auch immer) kausaler Verkettung zu entfalten.

SLOWDANCE ist eine Serie von Arbeiten, in denen jedes Stück eine langsame Erfahrung innerhalb verschiedener Kontextvariationen beschreibt: das Theater, das Museum, der Wald, die Kirche. Der Ausdruck „Slow Dance“ wird sowohl als Titel als auch als Sammelbegriff für Tanz verwendet, der mit dem breiteren Genre der Slow Art in Verbindung steht: eine Kunstbewegung des verkörperten Beobachtens, die die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Erfahrung der sich entfaltenden Zeit lenkt
